Since its debut in the Indonesian market in 2024, Great Wall Motor (GWM) Indonesia — a global automotive company from China operating under Inchcape Indonesia — has made a strong impression with its GWM Tank and GWM Haval brands. After nearly two years of building a solid position in the mass-premium segment through these two brands, consumer attention is now turning to GWM’s full-electric vehicle lineup: GWM ORA, which will soon be officially launched.
The excitement surrounding GWM ORA is well-founded: beyond its eye-catching stylish design, this vehicle offers advanced technology and premium comfort. Moreover, GWM ORA has achieved remarkable milestones in global markets, making it one of the most anticipated models among Indonesian automotive consumers.
The Birth of the ORA Brand
GWM introduced the ORA brand in 2018 after nearly a decade of research and analysis on New Energy Vehicles (NEVs). In Mandarin, the name “ORA” resembles the pronunciation of “Euler,” referring to the renowned Swiss mathematician Leonhard Euler. Mathematics itself is the foundation of scientific and technological innovation and lies at the heart of automotive design, research, and development — values that align with GWM’s commitment to delivering cutting-edge innovation and meticulous attention to detail in the automotive industry.
More than just an electric vehicle brand, GWM ORA embodies a set of philosophies that define its identity. The ORA logo, shaped like an exclamation mark, represents Great Wall Motor’s determination to continuously deliver extraordinary products that surprise and delight consumers. Additionally, GWM defines ORA through the concept of “Open, Reliable, Alternative,” reflecting three core pillars:
- Open: GWM’s spirit of embracing innovation and collaboration openly.
- Reliable: Emphasis on quality, dynamic performance, and dependable safety standards for electric vehicles.
- Alternative: ORA’s ability to offer a modern, intelligent, and premium driving experience while establishing a unique position in the automotive market.

This compact EV quickly gained global attention as one of the most affordable electric vehicles at the time. Designed for urban mobility, the R1 stands out with its compact dimensions, smart features, and high efficiency, making it an ideal solution for daily commuting in major cities.

This model represents ORA globally with its iconic retro-futuristic design, premium interior quality, and advanced safety and infotainment technologies. Good Cat not only signifies GWM’s maturity in EV design but also strengthens ORA’s position as a brand that combines lifestyle, technology, and sustainability in one package.
